秋 Aki
秋 Aki (Autumn)
Metamorphosis has been on the mind a lot lately. What it takes to truly transform into a truer state of being, and to let go of what needs to be released to get there. The world seems to be vibrating loudly these days, old systems and ways of thinking rising up and resisting an overall building desire for a better way of life. Releasing can be a scary process. But trees show us, it can be spectacular and beautiful as well. They don’t mourn the leaves they spent all season growing. They celebrate with splendid color and chance to rebuild anew, taller, stronger, wiser. (Remember I’m from the Caribbean and have always been fascinated by Autumn). This piece was inspired by the path a leaf takes as it falls from a tree. Never a linear path, never repeated. The name is in Japanese, as a form of gratitude for the Japanese tools, methodology, language, and certain cultural perspectives that have lately added to my life during my own sort of personal metamorphosis.
