Bosque de Encantos
Bosque de Encantos (Forest of Enchantments)
Special bespoke island designed for use in a rustic kitchen in upstate New York. The heart of this design is the gorgeous live-edge Silver Maple tree full of impressive figure, locally sourced and repurposed thanks to an urban mill here in Colorado. Splits are filled with sparkling blue, and coffee. The base is made of Hard Maple and Sapele. Some of the maple is ebonized to add further contrast and to match the feeling of the house. The legs, drawer pulls, and back feature the satisfying texture of an antique Chouna (Japanese adze). Piston-fit runner-kicker drawers with half-blind dovetails. All joinery is hand-cut in solid wood. The result is a living, breathing piece that stands as the centerpiece of the living space, without an inch that feels out of place.
